12 STEP PROGRAMMES
Alcoholics Anonymous - AA
www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/about-aa/the-12-steps-of-aa
The relative success of the AA program seems to be due to the fact that an alcoholic who no longer drinks has an exceptional faculty for "reaching" and helping an uncontrolled drinker. In simplest form, the AA program operates when a recovered alcoholic passes along the story of his or her own problem drinking, describes the sobriety he or she has found in AA, and invites the newcomer to join the informal Fellowship. The heart of the suggested program of personal recovery is contained in Twelve Steps describing the experience of the earliest members of the Society.
Al Anon Family Groups - AL ANON
Many people come through our doors for help with coping with a problem drinker. They include close and distant relatives, friends and colleagues. Whatever relationship they and the drinker share (or once shared), even if the drinker has since stopped drinking, left the family or died, they are welcomed with open arms. Because alcoholism affects the whole family, almost anyone can seek solace within an Al‑Anon Family Group meeting. Alcoholics Anonymous exists for the drinker when they are ready to seek help.
Adult Children of Alcoholics - ACA
www.adultchildrenofalcoholics.co.uk
Adult Children of Alcoholics is an anonymous program of women and men who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes.
We discover how our childhood affected us in the past and influences us in the present.
We meet with each other in a mutually respectful, safe environment and acknowledge our common experiences. We take positive action by practising the Twelve Steps and focusing on The Solution. We find freedom from the past and a way to improve our lives today.
Narcotics Anonymous - NA
The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using. You don’t have to be clean when you get here. You don’t have to wait for an overdose or jail sentence to get help from NA, nor is addiction a hopeless condition from which there is no recovery. It is possible to overcome the desire to use drugs with the help of the Twelve Step program of Narcotics Anonymous and the fellowship of recovering addicts.
Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous - SLAA
Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, or SLAA, is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition oriented Fellowship based on the model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous. SLAA is open to anyone who knows or thinks they have a problem with sex addiction, love addiction, romantic obsession, co-dependent relationships, fantasy addiction and/or sexual, social and emotional anorexia.
Debtors Anonymous - DA
If you are having problems with money and debt and think you may be a compulsive debtor, you have come to the right place and we can help you. Debtors Anonymous (DA) is a twelve-step programme for anyone who wants to stop incurring unsecured debt.
DA encourages careful record keeping and monitoring of finances – including purchases, income, and debt payments – so that you get a clearer picture of your spending habits. This information is used to develop healthier spending practices, supporting you in keeping a reasonable quality of life while still repaying debt. Similarly, DA recommends developing plans for the future to increase your income.
Co-dependents Anonymous - CODA
Welcome to CoDependents Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships. The only requirement for membership is a desire for healthy and loving relationships.
Gamblers Anonymous - GA
Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to do the same.
This site offers various aids for the compulsive gambler including a forum, a chat room, literature and most importantly a meeting finder.
Meetings are the core of Gamblers Anonymous and we have meetings every day of the week throughout England, Wales and Ulster.
